How, under the influence of media and our devices, our minds and hearts are not our own, and how we can get them back again. Our general predicament was already old news in Socrates' time.
I'm glad you're enjoying the notes, Steve. You're absolutely right of course--media and our devices have a lot to offer by way of remedying our ignorance. If only we can manage them to our benefit.
I’m thoroughly enjoying your posts and writing in general. Thanks. No arguments from me on this topic. However, the fact that we get needed information from media seems a bit at conflict with this statement: “ We suffer from ignorance. As Socrates noted, our suffering is compounded when we are unaware of our ignorance—and thus unable to remedy it.”. I get frustrated with some of my family members when it comes to many current issues as they seem to hide behind “well, I don’t really pay attention to all that stuff” and “I don’t know much about all that.” It seems like willful ignorance. I suppose they are less troubled but also an obstacle to needed change.
